Brass & bass

Resident brass master and jazz and funk bassist, with a UNF degree in Jazz Studies. Brothers of Brass, Jubilingo, Red Rocks.
Matthew Rossmann is Shaman Shade’s resident brass master. He plays the entire brass family, holds a degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Florida, and is just as at home on upright and electric bass, where jazz and funk are his specialties. Since 2018 he has been a member of Brothers of Brass, the Denver brass band, playing on all of their releases. From 2018 to 2025 he played bass in Jubilingo, a Denver soul and rock band, and appears on all of their releases to date. He also played on all three albums by The Savants of Soul, a retro-soul group from Gainesville, Florida: Downtown Sound, Sunday Best, and their self-titled record. He’s a regular hired gun for Great Family Artists’ wedding bands around Denver and has played most of the city’s notable venues, Red Rocks among them. With his own professional recording gear, he can deliver high-quality stems for any session. By day he’s a repair technician at Flesher Hinton Music Company, working on everything from tuba to soprano saxophone, and he’s a skilled tradesman besides.
